“ Trabocchi “ are traditional fishing platforms dislocated on some nice bays very close to Pescara such as Ortona, San Vito, Fossacesia and Vasto.
Some of these Trabocchi are still working and it is also possible to have a lunch or a dinner on them with a fantastic view of the Adriatic sea around you.
We use to start the daily cruise early morning around 9,30/10 a.m. reaching in a couple of hours for example Ortona where you can admire “Ripari di Giobbe” or Fossacesia that has a white rocks beach. Our boats can host up to 10 people to have a unforgettable sailing duy altogether enjoying the sun and the sea. We also provide foods and drinks as extra, we can let you taste the local food of our coast prepared by our chef and our faboulous wines.
What is a Trabocco?
Trabocchi are ancient huts on wooden stilts used for fishing, more 'precisely is a fishing system called "balance" in which a large rectangular net is tied with ropes to poles called antennas, these ropes with a mechanism based on plots are directed by a tool called a winch which is activated and let the network go down slowly and go up in water, allowing the fishing of fish that remain imprisoned in the same net.
Different variety of fish are caught along the Adriatic coast:
The mullet, the sea bass, the Mormorrore, Bianchetto and anchovies etc.
Several have been the gastronomic events organized by Slow Food to preserve these traditional Trabocchi from where you can admire the fantastic and beautiful places of the wonderful Trabocchi Coast.
